Collector conducts surprise raids on fertiliser shops

Kakinada, Jun 19 (UNI) A team of officials led by East Godavari Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi today conducted surprise raids on fertiliser shops in Peda Brahmadevam Village in the district and ordered seizure of stocks from two shops, which were found closed.

He also inspected the records and stocks of fertilisers and pesticides in another shop and admonished the dealer for not displaying the price list and stock details.

He later told mediapersons that as many as 12 special inspection teams were constituted with four RDOs, eight Tahasildars and ten agricultural officials to conduct surprise checks on all the fertiliser shops and book cases against erring dealers.

A special control room was also opened at the office of the Joint Director of Agriculture Department, which works round the clock for monitoring the fertilisers and pesticides supply situation and would receive complaints from the farmers.

Strict vigil was being kept to prevent clandestine movement of fertilisers from this district to other districts, he added.
