Bosch Run to create awareness on air pollution
Bangalore, Jun 19: Bosch Ltd, a global major in the automotive sector, will organised 'Bosch Run-2008' in the city on June 22 to create awareness on 'Air Pollution and its prevention', company's General Manager Nagaraj Banaji said here today.
Addressing newspersons here he said that the event organised to highlight the adverse effects of air-pollution.
He said that the Bosch Run-2008, will be flagged-off by renowned Olympians Ashish Ballal and Ashwini Nachappa, will be participated by over 2000 youngsters. It covers five kilometers and wade through important junctions in the city.
Stating that with the increasing number of vehicles in Bangalore city the emission of carbon dioxide had thrown up several health challenges to the citizens. He said that by taking several measures including keeping the vehicles in good condition the volume of emission can be contained.
He said that Bosch Run, is one of the component of the company's initiative of its Clean air for Bangalore campaign. The programme has been decided to extend from Bangalore to Karnataka and then the whole country.
He said that in its bid to elimination of hazardous Chemicals Bosch had taken measures for the total elimination of Trichloroethylene in all its manufacturing activities and it was one of the first in India to have achieved this distinction.
Trichloroethylene was one of the hazardous substances abudantly used in India for cleaning activities since its is the cheapest solvent, he said.
