Two pilgrims killed, 41 injured in Jammu bus accident

Jammu, Jun 18 (UNI) Two pilgrims were killed and 41 others injured when their bus skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge in Manda hills near here today, official sources said.

The bus, hired by some locals to join religious Sudhmahadev fair in Udhampur district, met with an accident on the serpentine road in Manda hills, just a few miles away from Jammu, at around 0830 hours.

Two passengers were killed on the spot while 41 others injured.

The injured had been shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment, hospital authorities said.

The deceased were identified as Deepak Kumar, (30) and Ashok Kumar, (35).

According to sources, the driver had lost control over the bus while negotiating a gurue on the serpentine road and the vehicle rolled down the hill.

A three-day fair commenced yesterday at Sudhmahadev, a revered shrine of Lord Shiva and famous pilgrim spot located about 125 kms from Jammu.
