Rupee remains steady against USD in the opening trade

Mumbai, Jun 18: Rupee remained steady at 42.88/90 against US Dollar as the stock market was range-bound on flat note in the opening trade. After starting the session almost flat at 42.86/88 per Dollar as compared to previous close of 42.88/89, the Indian Currency was stuck near the level of 42.90 in mid-morning trade, dealers said.

Dealers also said that the local unit could strengthen to 42.80 if the stock market sustained the rise, while the downside remained at 42.95 as the central bank was expected to intervene to prevent sharp slide.
