New Delhi, Jun 18 (UNI) The Delhi Development Authority today approved a proposal to allot 100 acres of land at village Maidan Garhi for the proposed South Asian University.

As per a decision taken at the meeting of the DDA at Raj Niwas, 100 acres of land will be provided to the Ministry of External Affairs for setting up the University.

Among other decsions taken at the meeting, it was decided that there will be no construction on the river front in the river Yamuna to aid abetment of pollution and land utilisation in a fashion so that there is eco-friendly development and the ecosystems of the river are maintained.

It was decided that there will be no construction in the river front. Only green development will be permitted and that too will be limited to specified greens such as Biodiversity parks, Bird Sanctuaries etc.

''Rest of the activities proposed, will have to be considered in the light of ongoing studies and will be taken up in the second phase,''the meeting said.

The meeting also proposed an amendment in the 2021 Master Plan for Delhi that all conversion charges for use of residential land for commercial purposes will be fixed by the Ministry of Urban Development as prescribed from time to time. This has been proposed in order to have unified conversion charges for all types of conversions.

This was to circumvent the necessity of amending the Master Plan whenever a change in the charges was felt necessary.
