More BJP tickets to women in Chhattisgarh
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Jun 18 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will give comparatively more tickets to women candidates in the next Chhattisgarh Assembly polls scheduled this year.
''In 2003, tickets were given to six women and five of them emerged victorious. This time the party intends to give tickets to twice that number of women,'' BJP state General Secretary Dharam Kaushik told UNI.
On being asked whether the party would gradually take women's reservation to the 33 per cent mark vis-a-vis hustings, he said it was early days yet but the BJP had already granted 33 per cent reservation to women at the party organisation level.
''Such reservation is yet to be implemented at the lower level but will be done soon,'' Mr Kaushik added.
