K'taka HM rules out CBI inqury into Padmapriya suicide

Udupi, Jun 18 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister V S Acharya today ruled out CBI inquiry into the alleged suicide by Padmapriya, wife of BJP legislator Raghupathy Bhat, at an apartment in Dwarka in New Delhi on June 15.

''Our Police are well versed and there is no question of handing over the investigation to thje CBI, as demanded by some Opposition parties and women grganisations. Since the state police are probing the case, the question of transferring the investigation to the CBI does not arise,'' he told newspersons here.

Mr Acharya said the question on the continuance of Additional Director General of Police A R Infant as the head of the investigation team into the alleged suicide of Padmapriya would be taken only after receiving all the reports.

''The government is awaiting the investigation reports from New Delhi, Bangalore and Udupi. The post-mortem report of Padmapriya conducted at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, is expected to be received by the Karnataka police team camping there soon,'' he added.
