Implement government assurance given in J

Srinagar, Jun 18 (UNI) Expressing concern over the delay in implementation of assurances pertained to Power Development Department (PDD), the Assurance Committee of Legislative Assembly has directed PDD to implement all government assurances given on the floor of the house from time to time.

The committee headed by Communist Party of India (M) Mohammad Yousuf Targami directed the PDD to implement the assurance of the govenment at the earliest in letter and spirit so that aspirations of the needy people are fulfilled.

An official spokesman said today that the Committee observed that House was the highest form to highlight issues of public importance and it was therefore mandatory on the part of concerned department to take care of all such assurances within a stipulated time frame so that sanctity of the House could be maintained.

The Committee also discussed various measures initiated by the department for strengthening the overall power scenario in the state and stressed for upgradation of basic infrastructure.

It specifically directed for installation of street lights in both capital cities.

The Committee was apprised that most of the assurances have already been implemented by the department and only one assurance belonging to Darhal area is pending due to lack of funds.
