Former MD, GM of SFC booked for allotting illegal contracts in J
Jammu, Jun 18 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Vigilance Organisation today booked former Managing Director and General Manager of State Forest Corporation for abusing their official positions and allotting contracts of timber extraction to two of their relatives and close associates.
''Aijaz Ahmad Bhat and Ghulam Hassan Marazi, the then Managing Director and General Manager of R&D, State Forest Corporation respectively and others were booked for allotting contracts of extraction of timber in violation of rules in Keller, Bhaderwah, Dudu and Basantgarh areas of Doda district,'' an official spokesman told UNI.
The verifications were conducted into the allegations of irregularities in the allotment of contracts by the management of the State Forest Corporation that has revealed that during the year 2006-07, in pursuance of a criminal conspiracy, Bhat in league with Marazi, and other official of Forest Corporation, dishonestly and fraudulently after manipulating the records allotted the extraction work of (standing timber) to his relatives and close associates.
A case has already been registered against three of the people involved in the extraction work, sources said.
However, the State Vigilance organisation registered a case under appropriate Section of PC Act, 2006 and RPC, sources added.
