Court commences hearing in Rani's Shirdi land plea
Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Jun 18 (UNI) The Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court today commenced hearing on a petition filed by Bollywood actress Rani Mukherjee, challenging a notice issued to her by a Maharashtra government official, regarding the purchase of land near Shirdi.
It may be noted that the actress purchased a piece of land in Nimgaon-Korhale village near Shirdi on December 21, 2007. The Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) of Srirampur issued a notice to the actress, asking her to pay penalty of Rs 66 lakh by April 15, otherwise, the land will be taken in Government custody.
Following the receipt of notice, Rani's father and power of attorney, Ram Mukherjee, filed a petition in Aurangabad bench of Bombay High Court on April four, challenging it. In the petition, the actress has urged the court to cancel the notice.
The hearing began today and will continue tomorrow. Advocate Shashikumar Chaudhry and Adv Yuvraj Chaudhry are representing the actress.
