Sultry day in Delhi, mercury rises to 33.9 deg C

New Delhi, Jun 17 (UNI) Sultry weather conditions today returned to Delhi as bright sunlight and high humidity led to a sharp rise in the mercury to 33.9 degrees Celsius.

For the first time since Monsoon arrived in Delhi on Sunday, the sun today appeared in the skyline. The sunlight, coupled with a high humidity level of 98 per cent, led a to rise in the maximum temperature, from 28 degrees yesterday, to 33.9 degree C.

The minimum temperature also rose to 26 Degree Celsius.

The coming days could witness a return to the cool weather conditions with weathermen forecasting few more spells of rain and thundershowers in the city in the next few days.

Delhi has recieved a total of 44 mm rainfall since Sunday, when the South West Monsoon arrived in the city, two weeks earlier than its scheduled date.

The Monsoon rains also led to tremendous coolness in the city, bringing down mercury to 27 degree on Sunday.

The Met office has forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours, with one or two spells of rain and thundershowers.
