Sugar prices down on lack of demand from stockists
Navi Mumbai, Jun 17 (UNI) Sugar prices were down today on lack of demand from stockists, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.
Small and medium grade sugar dropped by Rs 2 and Rs 14 per quintal respectively owing to heavy selling pressure by stockists, traders said.
In ex-mill grade, small grade remained steady on moderate demand while medium grade eased by Rs 5 per quintal on thin buying support by stockists, traders added.
Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,458/1,510, Medium grade: Rs 1,482/1,570.
Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,440/1,470 and medium grade: Rs 1,475/1,500.
