Russia favours UNSC reform by consensus, not vote
New Delhi, Jun 17 (UNI) Reaffirming Moscow's support to India for a place in an expanded UN Security Council, Russia today said the reform in the world body had to be brought in by consensus and not voting.
''Our position has always been for a proper place for India in the UN...We understand the need for reform. We have come to a stage where the question of reform will be by consensus and not vote,'' Russsian Ambassador to India V I Trubnikov said here today.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the media section of the Russian Information Centre (RIC) here, the envoy said if the reform took place by vote, the legitimacy of the UN Security Council would be under question.
