Rupee gains at 42.91/92 against USD

Mumbai, Jun 17: Rupee today gained at 42.91/92 against US Dollar, strengthened by three paise from its previous close of 42.95/96 per Dollar on positive cues in stock market.

The Indian currency was trading with a range-bound gap of three to four paise against green back on suspected intervention by the Reserve Bank of India in the mid-morning trade, dealers said. However, the Dollars demand was high as global oil prices had surged to a higher level, which would further create a depreciating pressure on rupee, dealers added.
