Qatar Airways to use GTL-kersone mix fuel soon
Kozhikode, Jun 17 (UNI) Qatar Airways will switch to Gas To liquid (GTL) mixed with kerosene as aviation fuel in its aircrafts to ensure low level carbon emission soon.
''Research and experimentation was in an advanced stage'' and the airline will replace the present GTL to GTL mixed with kerosene in its aircraft by early next year,'' Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker told reporters a day after the launch of its Doha Kozhikode flight here.
With the introduction of new fuel the QA will be the first in the world to switch to GTL-kerosene mixed fuel, he claimed.
He said the know-how could be passed on to other airlines as well provided they fullfilled the required norms and specifications.
He blamed the governments across the world for passing the burden arising out of aviation carbon emission by taxing the passengers. This has become a subject of debate in Europe, he added.
