Katherine Heigl to star in polygamous sect movie 'Escape'

London, June 17 : Katherine Heigl has signed up to star in and produce 'Escape,' a new movie about the American polygamous sect founded by Warren Jeffs.

The movie will be based on the memoir of Carolyn Jessop, whose testimony helped convict the cult leader of incest and sexual conduct with minors, reports the Sun.

The 'Grey's Anatomy' star will play the role of Carolyn, who was born into the sect and escaped when she was 35.

Jeffs, the leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints, was jailed for 10 years in November (07).

'Escape' is a far cry from the actress' rom-com stints in 'Knocked Up' and '27 Dresses.'
