Srinagar, Jun 17: A mess and outer wall of a police station was damaged in the central Kashmir due to flood while water level in river Jhelum and its tributaries has increased due to heavy rains.

Official sources said today that flood water entered Beerwah police station in the central Kashmir district of Badgam, damaging mess and out wall of the police station.

However no causality have been reported.

The summer capital of teh state and its adjoining areas witnessed heavy rains last evening, disrupting normal life.

A number of areas in the uptown remained submerged for several hours due to rain water because of faulty drainage system.

Almost all city roads, including Rambagh to Natipora, Nowgam, Chanapora, Banapora and other areas in the uptown were totally damaged with big holes in the middle of the roads leading to frequent traffic jams.

The water level in the river Jhelum and its tributaries has also increased though it was several feet below danger mark.
