Axis announces strategy for Indian surveillance mkt

Bangalore, Jun 17; Axis Communications, global leader in network video driving the shift to digital video surveillance, today announced its business strategy to tap the huge potential in India. The Sweden-based company would strengthen its domestic presence through its various partner programmes aiming to reach Tier-I and Tier-II cities through its network of resellers.

The company had recently introduced a new generation of network video products built upon the in-house developed ARTPEC-3 chip. It includes H.264 video compression standard which was more cost efficient and simplify deployment and management of large systems, AXIS Regional Director Oh Tee Lee said.

Speaking to reporters here, he said his company was planning to expand its portfolio of network video cameras and related solutions to address retail, infrastructure and transportation sector which were identified as high growth segments. ''The World is seeing a shift from analog to digital video surveillance and Axis is well poised to ride this wave with its leadership in IP-based network video technology,'' he said.

Axis Country Manager Prakash Prabhu said Axis was also investing significantly in partner development through Axis Communications Academy to train channel partners on company's latest products and technologies in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi.
