Nicole Richie and Joel Madden have not tied the knot

Washington, Jun 16 : News that American actress Nicole Richie and her beau Joel Madden had tied the knot over the weekend, was a joke played by the Good Charlotte rocker.

It was revealed that Madden had posted an entry, with some doctored wedding pictures, on the band's blog with the statement, "We Did It! Nicole and I Finally Got Married!!"

The whole incident was totally fabricated, but it seemed to have convinced a lot of people, even family members and friends, thereby forcing Madden to explain himself.

"Ha ha. Just kidding," E!online quoted him as writing on the blog.

"So I feel really stupid even posting this, but I've been getting calls and texts from my family all week asking me why they weren't invited to my wedding.

"I guess the only answer I could give them was that I didn't know we were having one.

"So I just found out that Star magazine wrote some story about a 2 million dollar wedding we are supposed to be having, and that's where it came from.

"Sooooo if you were pissed at me for not inviting you or even telling you, don't blame me, there's nothing to worry about. It's just Star magazine.

"How long do you think it will be before they write we called it off, or we broke up? I give them a week or two..." he concluded.
