Maoist ultras attack base camp of a construction company
Jehanabad, Jun 16 (UNI) Proscribed CPI (Maoist) guerillas attacked the base camp of a road construction company near Barki Morari under Paliganj police station in the district and set ablaze five vehicles, including two JBC machines.
Police said here today that a group of 50 Maoist ultras attacked the base camp late last night and set afire standing tractors and JBC machines. The labourers and staff working on the site were threatened at gun point to leave the place.
The ultras were demanding levy of ten per cent on the undergoing project for which Rs 78 lakh had been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, sources informed.
The destroyed JBC machines and tractors were worth Rs 60 lakh, sources said, adding that an FIR has been lodged in the concerned police station. Senior police officers were camping at the site.
