Maoist arrested in Gaya

Gaya, June 16 (UNI) An activist of proscribed CPI(Maoist) was today arrested after a brief encounter with police at Auramba Tand under Dumaria police station in the district.

Deputy Police Superintendent Rajvansh Singh said acting on a tip off a police team raided a hideout in dense forest at Auramba Tand and arrested the Maoist.

As police reached near the hideout, the Maoist guerillas opened fire on the security personnel following which police had to open fire in self-defence.

None was injured in the encounter, he added.

An amount of Rs 47,000 and incriminating documents were recovered from the hideout during the search operation, Mr Singh said adding raids were being carried out to nab other Maoist activists, who managed to escape from the spot during the encounter.
