Couple dies after falling into septic tank

New Delhi, Jun 16 (UNI) A couple, in their 30s, died after falling into a septic tank in the Nangloi area of west Delhi early this morning.

Guddu (35) was cleaning the area close to her residence at about 0630 hrs, when she stepped on the 8x5-feet septic tank that caved in leaving her trapped, according to sources.

In a bid to save Guddu, her husband Suraj Prasad also fell inside. Meanwhile hearing the commotion, people of the area gathered and tried to pull out the couple but to no avail.

Later the police arrived, but by then both had died.

The couple leaves behind four children - three daughters and a son.

While Suraj worked as a factory worker, Guddu was a housewife.

Sources said the septic tank was old and illegal.
