Cong demands CBI inquiry into Padmapriya's death
Bangalore, Jun 16 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly Mallikarjuna Kharge today demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the alleged suicide by Padmapriya, wife of BJP Legislator Raghupathy Bhatt, in New Delhi yesterday.
Speaking to newspersons here, he said mystery shrouded the disappearance and subsequent alleged suicide by Padmapriya.
The KPCC chief charged that right from the beginning when it came to light that Ms Padmapriya had gone missing, the State police and Home Minister V S Acharya had been issuing ''misleading'' statements, leading to a lot of suspicion.
Mr Kharge recalled that Mr Acharya had said the police have located the missing person and were bringing her to home safely, which later proved to be wrong.
Expressing concern over the tragic death of Padmapriya, the Congress leader demanded CBI inquiry into the entire episode as the police have failed completely in giving protection to the MLA's wife.
