Sugar prices up on brisk buying support by stockists
Navi Mumbai, Jun 14 (UNI) The spot wholesale sugar prices increased today on brisk buying support by stockists, traders at the Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.
Small grade and medium grade sugar soared by Rs 2 and Rs 12 per quintal respectively on increase of fresh demand, traders said.
In ex-mill grade sugar, ex-mill small grade sugar fell by Rs 10 per quintal due to lack of demand by stockists, while medium grade sugar rose by Rs 5 per quintal owing to lesser stock supply by stockists, traders added.
Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,461/1,510, Medium grade: Rs 1,500/1,570.
Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,440/1,470 and medium grade: Rs 1,480/1,500.
