Di became 'airy fairy' with her true friends, says Sir Elton John

London, June 14 : Sir Elton John has claimed that Princess Diana trusted "the wrong people" towards the end of her life.

Speaking in the documentary for television channel VH1, the singer said that the late princess became "airy fairy" with her true friends.

"I think in the end she trusted the wrong people," The Sun quoted him, as saying.

"The people that really felt for her, and really were true to her, she just was a bit airy fairy towards in the end," he added.

Sir Elton recalled how he struggled to keep his composure as he performed Candle In The Wind at Di's funeral.

"It was one of the most surreal things I have ever done," he said.

"What was going through my mind was, 'Don't f*** this up. Be stoic. Don't break down,'" he added.

The singer was played footage of the moment by producers of US show RocDoc: Me, Myself and I.
