4 dead, 6 injured in rain-related incidents in Darjeelin

Siliguri, Jun 14 (UNI) Four people were killed and six injured in a landslip at NH 55 in Darjeeling as rain pounded across North Bengal this evening, official sources said.

Traffic on NH 55 leading to Darjeeling was affected as a landslide triggered by heavy rain breached a portion of road at Sepaidhura, above Kurseong town, SDO Debashis Das said.

In Malda three people including two women were killed when lightning struck them this evening. Four people also received burn injuries in the rains and lightning in Malda's Harishachandrapur, Manikchawk, and Sujapur.

Two people were injured when lightning struck them in South Dinajpur.

One person was killed at Coochbehar town when lightning struck him.
