Flying squads to monitor quality of roads in Bihar : Minister

Samastipur, Jun 13 (UNI) Bihar Road and Construction Minister Prem Kumar today said flying squads would be constituted to monitor the quality of ongoing construction of roads in the state.

Mr Kumar told reporters here that 512 projects were underway under Mukhya Mantri Setu Nirman Yojna involving a cost of Rs 1100 crore and it would be completed by 2009.

Similarly, hundreds of culverts and roads would be constructed with an investment of Rs 1500 crore besides reapairing of roads damaged by floods in north Bihar, he said.

'' The ongoing construction of roads and culverts will be completed within a fixed timeframe under any circumstance, '' he said adding the agencies engaged in construction works would be punished if they were found guilty of laxity.
