FB questions State Govt decision of not calling GJM in meeting
Kolkata, Jun 13 (UNI) All India Forward Bloc state secretary Ashok Ghosh today questioned Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee's decision of not inviting the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) to the all party meet on June 17 to discuss the Darjeeling issue.
''The Left Front has called an emergency meeting tomorrow to take up the issue and the latest situation in the hills and plains for discussion. I think Mr Bhattacharjee should have invited the GJM to the June 17 all party meet, '' Mr Ghosh told newspersons here.
He also said the escalating violence in the hills had been continuing unabated for the past few days, but what happened in the plains yesterday was not only shocking but shameful.
Mr Ghosh demanded that a high power team, comprising the members of the Ministry hailing from North Bengal should be sent to Darjeeling to restore peace and instil a sense of confidence among the people there.
He also vouched for a tripartite meeting, involving the Union and State Governments and the GJM without any pre-condition.
Mr Ghosh averred that developmental works should be taken up on priority basis in North Bengal for its uplift.
