Hyderabad, Jun 13 (UNI) Farmers today staged dharnas in several parts of the Andhra Pradesh demanding the state government to supply seeds and fertilizers to them for the Khariff season.
A report from Vikarabad in Ranga Reddy district said that the farmers staged dharnas in front of the Market Committee yard and damaged the furniture. Police resorted to mild lathicharge on the farmers when they were staging a rasta roko.
In Kadapa district, the farmers staged a rasta roko for more than four hours on Kadapa - Bangalore highway in protest against the government'slleged indifferent attitude to the problem. Vehicular traffic came to standstill on the national highway.
The opposition Telugu Desam party's (TDP) senior leader and former minister N Janardhan Reddy said that the party along with farmers would organise dharnas in every Assembly constitutency from tomorrow.
