Centre for the welfare of children
Chandigarh, Jun 13 (UNI) Child Welfare Council, Kurukshetra, has set up a Centre for the welfare of children belonging to poor and nomadic families with an aim to rescue the children in the age group of 5 to 15 years from child labour.
Stating this here today, an official spokesman said the Centre would provide them education in 'learn while play' method.
The Centre, he said, would fulfil the aim of Prevention of Child Labour by bringing as many as 100 children in the mainstream of education through imparting informal education to them. This centre would thus prove a milestone in reforming and transforming the lives of children engaged in child labour.
The Centre would provide the facility of health check up and nutrition besides informal education to the children of poor families residing in the nearby slums.
The centre would also disseminate information about the national festivals to these children and encourage them to celebrate these festivals together which would help in their social development and infuse them with a spirit of patriotism.
