BOI launches Agri Debt Waiver

Ahmedabad, Jun 13 (UNI) Bank of India, one of largest public sector banks in the country, has decided to extend benefit of its scheme 'Agriculture Debt Waiver&Relief Scheme-2008' (ADWRS) to over 11,500 farmers of Gujarat.

A K Bhandari, General Manager of BOI, told mediapersons here this evening that the ADWRS scheme would benefit over 11,500 small and marginal farmers of Gujarat to the tune of Rs 31.5 crore.

Mr Bhandari said ''Over all, the BOI's scheme would benefit to 44,000 small and marinals farmers at the national level.'' ''Besides Gujarat, the farmers from Maharashtra, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh are major beneficiaries of the scheme,'' he added.

The General Manager said the Bank had started comprehensive implementation of the ADWRS as declared by the Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram.

In Gujarat, the scheme would be covered by 141 branches of the Bank.
