Irate mob attacks police station
Kakinada, June 12 (UNI) Irate members of Dalit outfits "Mala Mahanadu" and "Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi" today ransacked furniture in the Uppalaguptham police station, protesting against alleged inaction of the police following electrocution of a Dalit youth while working on cable wires network in Vadaparru hamlet of Gollavilli village last evening.
The Dalit youth, Gollapalli Raju (23) a cable technician, was rushed to area hospital at Amalapuram in a critical condition but doctors declared him brought dead, police said.
The relatives of the deceased youth alleged that police failed to initiate action against the cable operator concerned for carelessly laying the cables.
They demanded that the police should intervene and arrange for compensation to the family of the deceased.
Earlier, they staged a dharna in front of the police station to press the demand.
Sub divisional police officer of Amalapuram rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, police added.
