Copper wire bars, lead ingot and zinc slab fall

Mumbai, Jun 12 (UNI) Prices of copper wire bars, lead ingot and zinc slab in non-ferrous metals were down today between Rs 200 and 300 per quintal on sluggish demand by stockists, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

Copper wire bars and lead ingot declined by Rs 300 and Rs 200 per quintal respectively. Zinc slab also eased by Rs 100 per quintal in view of weak advice from London Metal Exchange (LME) along with Kolkata, Delhi and others, traders said.

Nickel cathode increased by Rs 30 per kg to close at Rs 1,240 per kg on better buying support by stockists, while tin slab remained steady on scattered buying by stockists.

In ferrous metals category, copper heavy fell by Rs 200 per quintal because of absence of demand by stockists. Only, copper utensils were up by Rs 300 per quintal to close at Rs 33,400 per quintal because of fresh demand by stockists.

Brass utensils, brass cuttings and aluminium utensils remained steady on moderate demand, traders added.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: copper heavy - Rs 37,200, copper utensils - Rs 33,400, brass utensils - Rs 25,100, brass cuttings - Rs 26,400 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,200.

Non-ferrous metals: copper wire bars - Rs 40,500, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,600, zinc slab - Rs 10,400, lead ingots - Rs 10,600, tin slab - Rs 1,140 per kg and nickel cathode - Rs 1,240 per kg.
