Renowned litterateur RK Shitaljit passes away

Imphal, Jun 11: Eminent educationist, litterateur and journalist RK Shitaljit died at his Imphal residence on June 8, a delayed report said today.

Shitaljit(95) had been awarded the State Journalist Award in 1995.

A renowned journalist, Shitaljit had a large number of books to his credit.

He had worked as a Correspondent for the Kolkata-based 'The Statesman' besides, the then 'Amrita Bazar Patrika' and the Associated Press of India.

The third person to pen a novel in the state, Shitaljit was known as the father of short stories in Manipur.

The All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) has condoled his death.
