Punjab DGP lays stress on public grievances
Chandigarh, June 11 (UNI) Punjab DGP N P S Aulakh today exhorted the field officers to be more easy accessible to the general public to redress their genuine grievances by ensuring timely action in a transparent manner.
The publuc faith in the law and order machinery of the state must be kept intact, the DGP said while presiding over a monthly crime review meeting held here.
The DGP pointed out that it was high time to adopt a more sensitive approach towards the complaints of women, children and under privileged of the society and advised the officers not to take issues related to these sections casually. He directed the IGs/Zonal and Range DIGs to ensure their availability to the public everyday by fixing a particular time to listen to grievances.
In case these officers are not availability the next senior most officers should be deputed for this purpose, he added.
Taking a strong notice of the few incidents of assault by some miscreants on police personnel, he directed the field officers to deal with such elements with a strong hand.
The DGP directed the officers to check the unauthorised use of red beacons. He underlined the need to launch special drive from time-to-time to curb this trend.
He asked the field officers to remain vigilant and put in order the comprehensive security arrangements for the fair and peaceful conduct of the upcoming municipal committee elections to be held on June 30.
