Domestic sales of passenger cars up 15.6% in April-May '08

New Delhi, Jun 10 (UNI) The domestic sale of passenger cars in the country has seen a 15.6 per cent growth in April-May 2008 at 2,09,483 units as against 1,81,206 units during the same period a year ago.

The domestic sale of commercial vehicles such as trucks and buses increased by 6.84 per cent to 68,565 units in Aril-May 2008 from 64,176 units over the same period last year, according to the data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) today.

The domestic sale of three-wheelers grew by 1.16 per cent at 55,190 units during April-May 2008 against 54,557 units in the same period last year.

The two-wheelers segment has registered an increase of 7.49 per cent at 12,63,396 units during April-May 2008 as against 11,75,395 units over the same period last year.
