Six sent to jail on charges of committing theft in a ship

Kendrapara, Jun 7 (UNI) A lower court in Kujanga today rejected the bail applications of six people, including four suspected Bangladeshi immigrants, and for sent them to judicial custody.

All the six were arrested by police on the charge of breaking into the Panama-based vessel M V Barmundi and committing theft on June four last.

Police also seized three mobiles and Rs 12,000 from their possession.

Paradeep IIC Rajkishore Paikray said the ship was stranded in the notified prohibited area of C Q berth no-2 0f Paradip Port.

Police said while two of the six accused belonged to Balasore, the rest four were suspected to be Bangladeshi immigrants.

Police identified the accused as Sk Binu, Sk Nasik, Kartik Das, Sukha Das, Sk Nasiwa and Sk Abdullah.

According to Paikray, the six people were residing in Paradeepgarha for the past one and half months and dealing in scrap.
