Undertrail commits suicide in jail in Punjab

Bathinda, Jun 6: An undertrial allegedly committed suicide in the prison hospital inside the Central Jail premises here last night, police sources today claimed.

The undertrial, Gurtej Singh used his turban to hang himself from the ceiling fan in the hospital. His body was discoverd this morning by the jail staff.

Official sources said that the undertrial had been suffering from mental depression and was admitted to the hospital a few days back.

A resident of Nainwal village in the district, he was charged with the murder of his parents in April this year and was subsequently arrested and put in jail.

The administration has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
