Mahila Congress demands 33 per cent quota in government jobs

New Delhi, Jun 6 (UNI) The All India Mahila Congress today demanded 33 per cent reservation for women in government jobs.

In a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Mahila Congress President Prabha Thakur said the 33 per cent reservation should be made applicable to promotions also so that women could be saved from exploitation, torture, and injustice.

While congratulating them on introducing in Rajya Sabha, the Women's Quota Bill seeking to provide for 33 per cent reservation for women in state asemblies and Parliament, Dr Thakur said "Crores of women are looking towards you with hope that women's reservation will be accomplished during the term of the UPA government."
