Kerala Govt reduces Sales tax for petroleum products
Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 6 (UNI) The Kerala Government reduced the Sales Tax for petrol by Rs 1.22 per litre and 66 paise for diesel with effect from tonight.
An official release today said with the reduction, the Government would forgo an additional revenue of Rs 322 crore this year.
It said the Sales Tax of petrol would be reduced to 26.03 per cent from 29.01 per cent, while for diesel it would come down to 22.49 per cent from the present 24.69 per cent.
The release said the decision was taken to give some relief to the common man, who were already burdened by the steep hike in the prices of petroleum products effected by the Centre.
