Chidambaram confident of controlling inflation

New Delhi, June 6, : Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram said today that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government was confident of controlling inflation with the support of people.

Chidambaram in a statement in New Delhi said that the Government of India, like governments all over the world was also fighting inflation.

The Government said it would take more steps to reduce inflation that has touched 8.24 per cent in the week ended May 24.

Rising global crude and commodity prices are the main problems confronting the government in price control, said Chidambaram.

Chidambaram said that the UPA would ensure in the medium to long-term period, a robust and inclusive growth with price stability.
