Carrier India announces price increase in air-conditioning products

Mumbai, June 6 (UNI) Carrier India, a subsidiary of Carrier Corporation, will increase its prices between 3 percent and 5 percent for its range of residential, light commercial and commercial air-conditioning products.

The last time, the company announced a price increase, was in November 2006. Carrier Corporation, a global leader in providing air-conditioning products, heating and refrigerating solutions, is a subsidiary of United Technologies (NYSE:UTX).

''In the last 12 months, commodity costs have increased significantly, led by copper (up by 53 percent from February 2007) and steel (up by 34 percent from February 2007), as well as petroleum-based plastics,'' Carrier India Managing Director Zubin Irani said, in statement here.

''We have been able to offset some, but not all of the increases through improved productivity,'' Mr Irani added.
