Naveen directs recruitment for all vacant posts

Bhubaneswar, Jun 5 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today directed the officials to recruit all posts lying vacant in various departments in a time bound period.

The chief minister asked the chief secretary and the secretaries of various departments to ensure that developmental and welfare programmes did not suffer due to want of employees.

Mr Patnaik said despite financial constraints the government had initiated steps to fill up 1,25,354 posts during April 2001 to June 2008. All the vacant posts, he said, should be filled up in a time bound manner as soon as possible.

Mr Patnaik said steps were taken last September to fill up 35,808 posts lying vacant in various departments. Recently measures were also taken to recruit personnel for another 9200 essential vacant posts.

He said during April 2001 to June 2008 44,893 posts were abolished. As many as 4894 posts were abolished in the Revenue department.

He directed the chief secretary to regularly review the process of filling up of vacant posts.
