Left to stage 'chakka jam' on June 11 over price hike in UP
Lucknow, June 5 (UNI) Left parties in Uttar Pradesh today lambasted the UPA government for hiking petroleum, deisal and domestic gas prices and demanded a roll back with immediate effect.
CPI, CPI (M) and Forward block parties in a meeting here decided to stage a state-wide demonstration against the price rise and 'chakka jam' on June 11.
Meanwhile, they will continue their agitation through public meetings and rallies.
The Left parties alleged that the Centre could have saved the general public from the hike by imposing taxes on petroleum and corporate companies.
The leaders also demanded the Mayawati-led UP governemnt to follow in the steps of West Bengal government and waive taxes on petroleum products.
CPI state secretary Dr Girish Ashok Mishra and Pradeep Tiwari, CPI (M) state secretary M P Kashyup, Vijay Shant and Prem Nath Rai and Forward Block state president Ram Kishore were present in the meeting.
