Core Group reviews security scenario of Jammu

Jammu, Jun 5 (UNI) The Core Group of senior security officials today met under the chairmanship of Lt Gen R K Karwal, GOC XVI 'White Knight' Corps and Security Advisor to the state government, to review the situation in Jammu with regard to ensuring smooth Amarnath Yatra and Assembly elections, an army spokespersons said.

Complimenting the security forces, intelligence agencies and civil administration for achieving ''peerless synergy, enviable harmony and immense coordination'', Lt Gen Karwal stressed the need to maintain continuous pressure and moral ascendancy over the militants, who have, by and large, been marginalised.

He attributed the downward slide in terrorism to the synergy and coordination among the entire security set-up in Jammu and Kashmir.

He emphasised that the coming few months are crucial and the Special Forces need to be extra vigilant to neutrialise the designs anti-national elements in the state.
