Chances for cut in ST on petrol, diesel remote in Pondy

Puducherry, Jun 5 (UNI)The chances of the administration reducing the Sale Tax on petrol and diesel to bring down the prices of the fuel are remote.

When newsmen, in an informal chat with Chief Minister N Rangasamy pointed out to Tamil Nadu Government reducing Sales Tax on diesel by two per cent, the Chief Minister said in Puducherry, the Sales Tax on petrol and diesel were only 12.5 per cent while it was 20 per cent in Tamil Nadu.

He wondered how it could be reduced further and added Puducherry was also affected by Value Added Tax(VAT).
