Rajasthan: Bomb scare in Jaipur

Jaipur, Jun 5: A bomb scare on the premises of two banks and a leading jewellery showroom in the C-Scheme area here today turned out to be a hoax.

According to police sources, an unidentified person handed over a letter to a security guard on the Kotak Mahindra Bank premises this morning, conveying a warning to blow up the building along with adjoining premises of HSBC Bank and the jewellery showroom.

The threat letter stated that the three buildings could be blown up between June 6 and 10.

The police accompanied with sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squads reached the spot, evacuated the premises and undertook thorough search which yielded no explosives, sources said.

The police, however, said in view of May 13 serial blasts in the Pink City, they would not take any chance and would keep vigil.

Meanwhile, another bomb scare was reported from Bikaner.

According to reports, an anonymous caller had threatened that the Secunderabad-Bikaner train, scheduled to reach Bikaner this evening, could be blown up by a bomb.

The GRP and the railway authorities were maintaining all alert in view of the threat, the reports said.
