Puducherry, Jun 5: Describing the Left-sponsored bandh call to protest the hike in prices of petroleum products as ''eye wash,'' AIADMK State Secretary A Anbazhagan, MLA, today asked the Left to withdraw support to the UPA Government if they were really concerned about the people.

Addressing the press here, Mr Anbazhagan described the price hike as a birthday gift to DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi from the UPA Government 'which was not at all concerned with the problems and could not understand the misery of the people.' This was the eighth time the prices of petroleum products were being increased after the UPA came to power, he claimed and asked it to withdraw the hike forthwith.

He said the AIADMK in Puducherry would organise an agitation after getting permission from Party Supremo J Jayalalithaa.

Alleging the government failed to take any steps to get 50 per cent seats from the private medical colleges here, Mr Anbazhagan said since applications for centralised admissions had already been issued, the administration should ensure all the 450 medical seats due to it from the private medical colleges were obtained this year.
