Advani flays UPA Govt for hiking prices of petroleum products

New Delhi, Jun 4 (UNI) Terming the hike in prices of petroleum products ''an act of insensitivity and betrayal'', BJP Prime Ministerial candidate and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, L K Advani today lambasted the Centre saying ''an already unpopular government had invited the rath of the people''.

''The UPA government's 'anti-aam aadmi' character has been starkly exposed yet again by its decision to hike the prices of petrol, diesel and LPG,'' Mr Advani said in a release here.

The poor and the middle classes have already been groaning under the burden of unprecedented rise in the prices of all essential goods and services, caused by the mismanagement of the economy by the government, he said adding that all the repeated promises of the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister to control the rate of inflation have failed.

''And now, in another act of insensitivity and betrayal, the government has taken a decision that is bound to have a cascading effect on prices. This will further impoverish crores of ordinary Indian families,'' Mr Advani added.
