TN fishermen detained for fishing in Andhra area
Chennai, Jun 3 (UNI) About 100 fishermen from Tamil Nadu, who set out for fishing in 16 fibre glass boats, were detained by their Andhra Pradesh counterparts while fishing near Ponnampatty village today.
Official sources said the fishermen, hailing from Kasimedu in North Chennai, were detained for fishing in the Andhra area.
Efforts were being made to secure the release of the detained fishermen and the boats.
Fisheries Minister K P P Sami said steps were initiated for holding talks with the officials in Andhra Pradesh to secure the release of the Tamil Nadu fishermen.
Mechanised boat owners and fishermen left for the village to hold talks.
